April Meeting - Lino printing
This months meeting is Lino Printing led by the wonderful Louise from N1WI and also Anna's fellow WI Walks companion on the Thames Path Challenge next month.
We are going to learn the art of Lino printing the talented Louise C.
For those not up to scratch lino printing is where you imagine a design, score it onto a piece of lino and then use the lino a bit like a rubber stamp and you print on to some card or paper. This technique can be used for pictures, gift tags, any occasion cards - basically anything you would like printed and the designs can be a simple or as complex as you want. We hope you will all go away with some knowledge of this craft, a printed image and your stencil which can be used time and time again (with different inks or on different cards etc) It sounds simple and it is- the trick is in 'cutting' the lino and the design- text for example needs to be scored in reverse so it prints legibly- so best start writing any text phrases backwards now!
All materials will be provided- but you may like to bring a pencil and a sharpener as there may not be enough for 1 each so it would be quicker- also be warned we are using ink so you may like to bring an apron or something to throw over your clothes in case of spillages and splashes!
